LET'S PUT IT IN MOTION
My Teaching Philosophy
Not everyone shares the same mobile capabilities as the other. No matter what age one may be, our bodies have their own individual movement based on our genetic makeup, injuries we have faced, and our daily activity. I believe anyone can play golf and play golf well. As a Titleist Performance Institute Certified golf instructor we will discover an efficient swing that delivers results by creating an individual plan based on ones own motion.

JULI EREKSON
I grew up playing golf at Holyoke Country Club, a nine hole golf course in Western Massachusetts. Under the tutelage of my father, Via Wightman, I started playing competitive golf on a national level at the age of ten. I had the opportunity to meet one of many future LPGA players, Grace Park, that year at a tournament in Florida. I knew at that moment I wanted to play golf in college and one day become a golf professional like her. Through training and experience, I did just that. I earned a scholarship to play golf at Brigham Young University and upon graduating, I turned professional in pursuit of the dream to play successfully on tour.

MY LOVE FOR JUNIOR GOLF
When I was six years old I was often found playing the childhood game of school. I can vividly remember the twelve imaginary students in my class and knew that I had a love for learning. The example from my second grade teachers as well as other phenomenal teachers, such as my mother, aunts, and uncle, drove me to pursue the learning path of education. I knew that having a college degree was important to me and my family and that higher education would help me raise my own family one day. I studied early childhood education and graduated from Brigham Young University with a reassuring love for working with younger children. My love for how the adolescent brain works and the excitement of learning drives me to do what I most desire; teach a love for the game of golf and all it has to offer.

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS
Throughout my childhood, I was very lucky to have a father that understood how the body works. He knew that for me to excel in my performance, my body needed to be in it’s best shape. Our simple training ignited my passion for fitness and the feeling of well being. I loved how I felt when I was active and knew that it was beneficial to my golf game. At Brigham Young University, I had the honor of being trained by Anthony Claux. He took our strength and conditioning to another level and helped us realize how important golf specific training was for our bodies as well as our golf skills. I took that knowledge out on tour with me which helped me stay physically sound for four years. At that time, motherhood took precedence over touring, but my passion for being physically fit has never diminished. Now so, more than ever, after three children, proper strength and conditioning has helped me get ready for competing again.

MY EXPERIENCE
I have had many roles in the world of golf. Growing up with a golf course as my second home, I saw and participated in the daily operations needed to run a successful golf course and various golf programs and tournaments. I saw learning firsthand everyday and what a learning environment looks like. Throughout high school, I had the privilege to lead our golf team as a captain, learning how to play golf in a team setting. Learning how to build and be part of a team was strengthened through college and I took that attitude on to my professional career; constantly networking, and building relationships worldwide, to create a team atmosphere in all facets of life. Connecting with people of all ages that share the love of the game of golf has been eye opening. There are so many people that love the game but lack the skills needed to play. I have the experience to help teach them and spread that admiration to everyone I meet. In 2010 I met Jojo Robertson, the head coach at Texas Tech University. Through her friendship and mentoring, I was ready to accept the BYU Assistant Women’s Golf Coach job two years later. Working under Carrie Roberts I learned how to ignite the passion for success in competition among many life lessons as a head coach. My experience was profound. I loved working with competitive golfers, finding a way for them to be successful. Successful in school, in life, and on the course. The experience I had on tour allowed me to reach out to these young women that have the aspirations to play on tour, use golf as a vehicle in life, and to play a game they love for the rest of their lives. It was then I started teaching individual lessons on a consistent basis and grew my own teaching philosophy and higher appreciation for the game.
